The  Spiceball Sculpture, situated on the roundabout adjacent to the Spiceball Leisure Centre Banbury, recently underwent a design change and upgrade.

Cherwell Council initially wanted to celebrate the 2012 Olympics with an additional lower ring saying “Olympics 2012″, but due to copyright infringement the council have only been allowed to have the wording  ”Celebrate Sport 2012″.

The additional ring was designed and fabricated with the “Celebrate Sport 2012″ wording and fitted to the sculpture, prior to the  Olympics 2012 opening ceremony this month.

The original Spiceball Sculpture was commissioned for the Football Word Cup 2010 and installed by RS Fabrications prior to that event and the ring is a good addition to the overall sculpture display.

The Sculpture is a “live” sporting display for Cherwell Council and the Spriceball Leisure Centre and it will be updated in the future, as and when different sporting events take place in years to come.
