Keith MorganCommander Phillips came to RS Fabrications after meeting Russell & Shane at the 2007 Historical Racing Car Show. He had a Racing Morgan with a Zetec engine and wanted to put it back to original Morgan Rally specification.

Numerous parts were sourced and purchased by Keith and RS fabricated the engine mounts to install the original engine.

Full 1 5/8 Stainless exhaust with merged collector was fabricated and mated to the side exit silencer. A full FIA spec rollcage was bent up and installed under the newly acquired hardtop, then came the task of fitting the Commander into his vehicle. This was by no means easy as Keith happens to be 6ft 3in tall!!

The floor was subsequently cut out and the the chassis cross member lowered and replaced 1 1/4 inches lower down in the chassis. The seatback/firewall angle was change to increase leg room and new leather seats installed along with 2 pairs of full harness seatbelts. The complete floor was replace with Aluminium skin bonded an riveted to the chassis. The Commander duly arrived at RS Fab for a fitting and with “skill and daring” found out that yes! he would be able to drive the Morgan on it 1st Rally, The Rally of Norway, which was lucky considering the amount of “wedge” he had put into it!!

NorwayA full 6mm aluminium Skid Plate was fabricated, incorporating the front mounted oil cooler, to protect the sump and underside of the vehicle.

Finishing touches included new number plate panel and colour coded spare wheel cover. Side windows also had to be repositioned to fit into the hardtop apertures.

The Morgan was imaculate. ” this is one of the best Morgan Rally Cars I,ve seen in a long time!” commented Bret from Brand Hatch Morgan, “the attention to detail is testament to the Keith’s vision and the skills of RS Fabrications”.
